FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Getting There & Back
-
By boat, from Port Denarau Marina near Nadi. Cloud 9 floats out on Ro Ro Reef in the Mamanuca Islands, there's no road and no jetty, which is rather the point :)
Your day trip includes the return boat transfer, plus shared hotel transfers from selected hotels.
-
About 60 minutes from Port Denarau. In heavy weather it can take up to 30 minutes longer, so allow a little flexibility in your plans.
-
There are two departures a day, and both give you about six hours.
9 AM trip — check in between 8:00 and 9:00 AM, depart Port Denarau at 9:00 AM, leave Cloud 9 at 2:00 PM. This is our main departure and it always runs.
1 PM trip — check in between 12:00 noon and 12:45 PM, depart at 1:00 PM, leave Cloud 9 at 6:00 PM. A later, sunset-leaning session. It runs when 25 or more guests are booked; if there aren't enough bookings we'll move you to the 9 AM departure and let you know in advance.
-
Worth planning for, especially if you're staying outside Nadi.
After the 9 AM trip — we leave Cloud 9 at 2:00 PM and reach Port Denarau around 3:00 PM.
Estimated drop-off times back at your hotel:
Denarau resorts: 3:00–3:15 PM
Nadi town, Wailoaloa: 3:30–3:45 PM
Nadi (Novotel, Tokatoka, Tanoa): 3:45–4:00 PM
Vuda, Shangri-La: 4:15–4:30 PM
Outrigger, Crows Nest, Lautoka: 4:30–4:45 PM
Warwick, Naviti: 5:00–5:15 PM
After the 1 PM trip — we leave Cloud 9 at 6:00 PM and reach Port Denarau around 7:00–7:15 PM.
Estimated drop-off times back at your hotel:
Denarau resorts: 7:15–7:30 PM
Nadi town, Wailoaloa: 7:45–8:00 PM
Nadi (Novotel, Tokatoka, Tanoa): 8:00–8:15 PM
Vuda, Shangri-La: 8:15–8:30 PM

Warwick, Naviti: 9:15–9:45 PM
All times depend on road traffic, and on heavy-weather days the boat leg can run up to 30 minutes longer. If you're on the Coral Coast and want an earlier finish, we'd suggest the 9 AM trip.
-
No — both trips are about six hours. The 1 PM session is just later, and you get the light going golden over the reef on the way back.
-
Most likely, yes. Shared hotel transfers are included from selected hotels across Nadi, Denarau and Wailoaloa. Hotels in Vuda and along the Coral Coast are also served, with an additional $20 per person.
Please be in your hotel lobby 10 minutes before your scheduled pickup time.
-
If you're staying on a Mamanuca island rather than the mainland, book your transfer through your resort reception. We're around 10 minutes from Namotu and Tavarua, 15 minutes from Musket Cove, Lomani, Funky Fish, Tropica, Castaway, Malolo and Plantation, 25 minutes from Mana, Beachcomber and Bounty, and 35 minutes from Tokoriki and Vomo.
-
Yes, and no — private boats are welcome at Cloud 9 with no landing fee and no admission charge. If you've arranged your own transfer from a resort or you're arriving on a private vessel, simply come aboard. You pay only for what you eat and drink.
You can also arrive by seaplane or jet ski.
The one exception is commercial operators carrying paying passengers, who need prior approval — please contact us to arrange it.
-
Yes. If you have a flight to catch or need to leave ahead of the group, we can run you back to Port Denarau on the Galilean, subject to availability on the day.
Ask us for a quote before you book and we'll confirm the timing and cost.

On The Platform
-
Fiji's first and original two-level floating bar and day club, anchored on Ro Ro Reef in the middle of the ocean. 350 square metres, an Italian wood-fired pizzeria, an internationally stocked bar, and nothing around you but turquoise water and horizon.
Family-run and hand-built. We were the first, by more than five years.
-
Yes. General seating across both levels is first-come, first-served and included with your trip — most guests are very happy with that.
If you'd like a guaranteed spot, daybeds can be reserved with a minimum spend of FJD $500 per daybed, which covers two guests. The minimum spend goes toward food and drinks on the day, so it isn't an extra charge on top — it's what you'd be spending anyway, committed in advance.
Popular with groups and worth arranging ahead in peak season. Book your trip first, then let us know and we'll note the reservation.
-
It varies day to day and we can't predict it reliably, but the morning session is typically the busier of the two.
If you're coming as a group and want certainty about where you'll sit, reserve a daybed.
-
Swim and snorkel straight off the platform onto Ro Ro Reef. Eat wood-fired pizza. Drink something cold. Claim a day bed on the sun deck and do very little at all.
There's music throughout the day — resident DJs plus international guest DJs playing chill-house.
Water sports, island hopping and photoshoots can be arranged in advance.
-
Two levels with a sun deck and day beds, long chairs, benches and tables. A state-of-the-art surround sound system. Two snorkelling stations off the platform. A wood-fired pizzeria and full bar.
There are environmentally friendly marine toilets onboard, separate for men and women. Please don't put anything down them — they clog easily out here.
-
Yes, there's a designated smoking area onboard.
-
Up to 150 guests across the two levels.
-
Yes, complimentary — 30 sets on rotation, shared among guests through the day. You're very welcome to bring your own if you'd prefer not to wait.
-
No — Cloud 9 is a licensed bar and restaurant, so it's not BYO. There's a full wood-fired pizza menu, a proper bar and a cocktail list waiting for you.
-
Card only — we don't accept cash on the platform. We take Visa, Mastercard and American Express, charged in Fijian Dollars.
-
It matters to us, out here. Cloud 9 runs on 100% solar power with zero carbon emissions. We've been planting coral since 2022, we're a member of the Mamanuca Environment Society, we use no straws, and we discharge no waste into the ocean.
We also support the neighbouring village of Malolo.
Reef-safe sunscreen is genuinely appreciated.
Food & Dietary
-
Hand-rolled pizzas from our Italian wood-fired oven, made with Bubu's secret sauce — a rich tomato, basil, herb and onion sauce. Bubu means grandma in Fijian. Vegetables come fresh from the Nadi market each morning.
Margherita, pepperoni, ham, chicken, Hawaiian, vegetarian and vegan, plus calzones.
-
All three. A gluten-free base is available for a small extra charge, and there are vegetarian and vegan pizzas on the menu.
If you have a serious allergy, tell us before hand or mention it to the team when you board, and we'll look after you.
-
Cocktails and alcohol-free mocktails, beer, wine, champagne and a wide range of spirits — plus local favourites like Fiji Gold, Fiji Bitter and Fiji Rum Co. Soft drinks, juices, coconut water and coffee too.
Planning Your Day
-
A card — we're cashless onboard
A towel
Sunscreen, ideally reef-safe (we're a sustainability site, and the coral thanks you)
A hat and sunglasses
Swimwear
Your own snorkel gear, if you have it

Our staff will gladly help you from the boat onto the platform. We should be straight with you, though: the toilets aren't designed to accommodate disabled patrons.
If you have specific mobility needs, please contact us before you book so we can talk it through honestly.
-
Yes, through our trusted partners — but book at least two days before your Cloud 9 date, as they're arranged separately.
Parasailing runs 10 to 12 minutes of flying time, about an hour all up, for ages 7 and over (children 7 to 12 fly with an adult). Jet skis and paddle boards are available on request. Groups of 20 or more get special pre-booking rates.
-
If we cancel for adverse weather 24 or more hours before departure, we'll try to reschedule you for another day. If that doesn't suit your travel plans, you'll receive a full refund. Refunds take 7 to 14 days to process.
Private Charters & Island Hopping
-
A six-hour private charter from Port Denarau. You'll visit two Mamanuca island resorts, stop at a sandbank to snorkel the marine life, and finish at Cloud 9 before heading back to the mainland.
FJD 2,800 for 1–12 guests · FJD 3,800 for 1–20 guests. Includes 15% tax.
Included: Denarau land transfers, captain, crew and guide, water and soft drinks, snorkel gear and floating noodles.
All ages are welcome on a private charter — the minimum age of 10 applies only to our shared day trips, so bring the whole family.
-
You choose two from the list below. Landing fees are paid directly to each resort and aren't included in the charter price:
Castaway Island Resort — no landing fee (minimum spend of $100 for the group)
Musket Cove Island Resort — FJD $10 per person
Treasure Island Resort — FJD $15 per person (visit the turtle sanctuary)
Malamala Island Beach Club — FJD $30 per person (minimum spend of $50 each)
Malolo Island Resort — FJD $50 per person
-
The six hours covers everything, including boat travel between stops — so time at Cloud 9 depends on how long you spend at the islands. Spend less time at the two resorts and you'll have longer at Cloud 9. Your skipper will help you plan it on the day.
Extra hours can be added at FJD $250 per hour.
-
Our flagship bespoke party charter — FJD 16,000 for a full day, 9 AM to 5 PM, up to 50 guests. We build the itinerary with you. Popular for weddings and post-wedding parties, hens and bucks nights, birthdays, and corporate days.
Includes captain, crew, guide, snorkel gear and floating noodles, with a great sound system onboard and a bar stocked to your liking. Food isn't included — you're welcome to bring your own. The bar is pay-as-you-go, card only.
-
A day at Cloud 9 plus a separate day at the Sleeping Giant Zipline & Jungle Safari — unlimited ziplines, a guided walk to the waterfalls, and access to Jurassic Park Fiji. Book the combo and we'll contact you to lock in both dates. Kids' rate 10% off.
-
Yes. Private bookings have no age restrictions — that applies to a private Cloud 9 hire and to any of our boats. Bring the whole family.
The minimum age of 10 applies only to our shared day trips, because Cloud 9 is a licensed bar open to the public. On a private booking, that doesn't apply.
On the Zip & Dip combo, note that two separate operators are involved: our shared day policy is 10 and up, while the Sleeping Giant Zipline takes children aged 3 to 12. So a younger child may be able to join the zipline portion.
